NASHVILLE (November 7, 2009) _ The 2009 Nashville Book Festival has awarded its grand prize to “A Separate County,” the brilliant new Southern novel by Robert Hicks.

Published in September, the novel is steeped in the atmosphere of the post-Civil War South, as Hicks weaves a tale of redemption, love and struggle into a masterful, page-turning exploration of a man’s darkest secrets.
