2007 DIY BOOK FESTIVAL WINNERS NAMED 10/20/2007 2007 DIY BOOK FESTIVAL NAMES WINNERS LOS ANGELES (October 20, 2007) _ Poet Mark Brunetti’s engaging “Airplane Lies and Other Poems Without A Home” was named Book of the Year for the 2007 DIY Book Festival, whose results were announced today. Brunetti’s collection of poetry is a funny yet profound group of insights from a powerful new voice whose curiosity includes contemplations on the relationship problems of Orpheus and Eurydice, the fondness of beats for haiku and whether there’s deeper meaning behind the old joke about a priest and a cop walking into a bar. The strong attitude and accessibility of the work was a big hit with the DIY Book Festival judges, who awarded Brunetti the festival’s $1500 first prize. Ex Machina Press was named DIY Publisher of the Year, while Tracy Augstyn's "Pennies For My Thoughts" was the most artistic book of the festival.
